Hildegard of Bingen – soon to be Doctor of the Church

Pope Benedict seems to be planning to name Hildegard of Bingen – a 12th century Benedictine visionary and leader – as a Doctor of the Church.  Because she has never been formally canonized, yet is widely regarded as a saint, it’s speculated that Pope Benedict may also formally canonize her.

  1. I was introduced to Hildegard of Bingen at an oblate meeting long ago, and I remember seeing some of her music performed when I went to an oblate directors conference. I’m excited about this. I hope there will be more information about her made available to coincide with this event.

Where did the video come from? We don’t have commercial TV; only Netflix. I’d love to see other offerings from “Rome Reports.”
